How long are they going to *let* you go?

Everyone asks me this and then when I tell them, "There is no they and I'll have the baby when he is ready." They say, "What does that mean?" and start with all the scary stories. UGH! I'm really really REALLY getting sick of it. I'm not good at keeping my mouth shut anyway so I really hope, for their sake, they quit with this question. Anyone else?

not even a week "over" here and yup, getting it in droves. Funny, because I don't recall signing control over my body to some mysterious *they*. . . do you?:

Yea, I got this a lot with my first. I'm really not looking forward to any social things in the coming weeks. For some reason people haven't really asked anything this time around, but I'm also avoiding people. Even when I go grocery shopping I avoid eye contact so I don't get comments. it's actually been pretty peaceful
The problem is, I think "they" will only let me go until 42 weeks, which is so annoying! I'm almost 39 and I'm hoping she comes in the next week and a half.

EVERYONE here knows that I have a hb mw who is in town and going to catch my baby and that she is the ONLY provider I have, and yet I still get the "they" comment. She's not royalty and she doesn't have a tapeworm, so I don't get it.

Also, my mom just asked if there's a point at which I'll go to the hospital and get pit. I DON'T THINK SO! Jeez, my body has gone into labor twice on its own, I have no doubt I'll go into labor again.

This is just... taking longer. Like wayyyyyyyyyyyy longer.

I'm due on october 12th, tomorrow, and they are going to induce me if i don't deliver by the 16th! I thought they would let me go a lil longer..but they don't want any risk of complications.

i hear ya. I have no "they" either.

And you dont "have" to be induced unless they threaten to drop you from care. Dont show up for your induction, you know?

Everyone around me knows that I wont be listening to anyone other than myself about this issue. This is our second UC so its all been said before. But I dont think I'd be comfortable going past the end of October because i have some blood pressure issues going on atm and that would put me just over 2 wks "past due", so I guess "they" would be the little voices in my head.

Its illegal to drop a woman from care inside of a 30 day window, or even in 3rd trimester at all without insuring that they have a replacement care provider. They can loose their license among other things for this. They say it but its a scare tactic and nothing more.

If you're close enough to be induced and you dont want to be, just show up when you are ready to deliver and they are forced to care for you. Not the most positive scenario, but better than an unwanted induction.

no one has asked me, but my doc will "let" me go to 42 weeks. at 41 weeks he recommends NSTs and BPPs, which I would be fine with.

I'm only 38w2d right now though, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

After going to 42 weeks twice, I just padded my date a little at my first midwife appointment. That way I can avoid all of the "overdue" stress. The state will not let the midwife attend me after 42 weeks. What they don't know won't hurt them.

No one is "letting" or not "letting" me do anything. If my doc doesn't like it he can kiss my big old preggo behind, stretch marks and all.

I'm at 41 weeks 2 days now, and I keep getting this:
"They're making you wait?"
I just want to scream.

*evil grin*
I'm due on Wednesday...but my O/B thinks that I'm not due until the 24th-29th. *hehe*
Why?
Well, see here...the first day of my last menstrual period was on January 10th. Which apparently puts my due date on the 17th. *shrug* Either way, according to many a technician and several nurses on the maternity ward...he's been doing it wrong all this time. I opted to NOT tell him this little bit of information, simply because it seems like it could, in fact, buy me more time...maybe this is a dangerous game I'm playing here but he's all ready asked me about induction once and I haven't even hit my due date yet.

Silly O/B's...tricks are for kids...not for babies.

I was able to convince my OB to go by my conception date rather than my LMP. By LMP, I would have been due on the 10th, and I'd already be 3 days late. But I was charting durring the month I conceived, and I am pretty sure (w/in a few days) of my conception date, and that puts me due on the 17th. Both my US confirmed the later due date too, so it bought me a little time. My OB knows I don't want induced this time (I was induced at 41 weeks with DS) and hasn't mentioned it yet.
