shooting pains in breasts

Thread Starter
DS is 5 months old and I have been having shooting pains in both breasts for weeks. I dont have mastitis and neither of us have any signs of thrush.

What could be causing it?

Could you have thrush and be asymptomatic?

Neither of us has had noticeable signs of thrush, save for a slight pinkish color on the very tips of my nipples, and my pain. (And last year, when I had it, it was shooting pains after nursing that radiated into my back, at the worst.)

A long shot maybe but do you have Reynaud's syndrome? That can cause pain while nursing. I'm not sure why it wouldn't have shown up sooner (the pain) but it is a possible explanation.

You could have thrush in the milk ducts

I'm interested in this as well...I'm an exclusive pumper for 15mos, and just started having these pains a couple of weeks ago, not just when I'm pumping, so, I'm trying to figure this out as well...are your pains even when you're not nursing?
