problem with a new baby that chomps, help!

baby Cohen is now 11 days old, and he is a chomper.

My last baby was a chomper, but he stopped after working with him for about a week by pulling gently on his chin during & right after latching on and saying *oooopen*

This baby is not nearly so forgiving, and it's killing my nips. Not so much the tips, but the area right behind it feels very brusied because he is gumming it to death. Sometimes he loosens up after awhile, but his jaws are so strong that i seriously can't even slow down the chomping, he's VERY strong! It HURTS!!

I had been hurting so bad I have been forced to pump, somehting I never ever do because I hate the pump, but I have had to to try and keep what little supply that I normally have anyway up. And I am getting frustrated to the point where I have seriously considered quitting it hurts THAT bad!

Any suggestions?

I have taken him to the chiropractor who adjusted his C1&C2, but it doesn't seem to last for more than a few days, maybe 3-4 max. he jsut got another adjustment today, and when he nursed it wasn't as bad (again) but thats how it was earlier this week for a few days when I took him, it was good for 3 days or so, then he started doing what I have termed the *shark attack* again.

help me, please if you can.

Congratulations for your little one!
Is there a possibility that you have a super supply or a really fast let down? Babies often chomp to decrease the milk flow so they can catch up with their swallowing. If this is the case, placing the nursing baby in an upright (sitting) position, and having mamma recline back so the flow is not so fast sometimes helps.
I hope you feel better soon!

Do you know a LLL leader or an LC who can observe his latch and see how it can be improved?
