How the heck much plug is there?!?!?!?!

I've been losing small mucous discharges for weeks now, but starting last Friday, I've lost big chunks of plug on Fri night, Sat morn, Wed night, then after my internal exam, Thurs night, Fri (today) all day. The contractions are about 7-10 min apart, steady and strong. Well, I just keep pulling these HUGE globs of plug (many of which earlier were bloodied), and I just keep wondering....how the heck much plug can there be?? I was already 4 cm and 50% effaced, there can't be that much left!

Losing the plug: typically a sign of effacement or dilation? Or both? When will this end?? We're talking big chunks, probably 5-6 today alone...not counting those other days. AHHHHH!! I've had it with the stretchy wom-wom feeling everytime I wipe today. Like playing with silly putty on my crotch.

Oh man, I can feel your pain. I was just thinking the same thing earlier. I remember this with previous pregnancies too. Its like my body just keeps making more and they keep falling RIGHT out and that doesn't deter my body at all :P

Actually, from what I've read...the mucous plug does, in fact, regenerate. *shrugs*

Yep the plug is contantly being remade. It helps keeps germs out of the cervix. It also is made because of the irritation to the cervix because of dilation. Loosing it usually does mean that your effacing and/or dilating.

I got so sick of that slimmy plug the week before I had both my kids. :
