We are having a party next weekend, it's somewhat of 1st B-Day party for DD2, and thanking everyone that helped us through this last year with her (very rough year with health issues). I'm having it at 4pm, so I'm guessing a light dinner? I have a recipe for a pumpkin cake that I make for fall parties but other then that I'm clueless what to make.

There are will be more adults then DC, everyone eats good, healthy food so I don't have to make separate meals. I don't want to spend too much time making things. Suggestions? TIA.

My favorite party menu is really easy (that's why I use it so often).
I only really cook one thing, a quiche that can be done in advance.
I also serve pita bread with a variety of hummus selections
Mini carrots and apples (which can also be dipped in the humus)
Cheese and crackers
sometimes shrimp

To make the quiche I use a pat in the pan pie crust, then cover the bottom with shredded cheese. On top of that I put the main filling, usually 1/2 a bag of mixed veges, otherwise I've generally used frozen spinach (I have a friend who loves to do just onions). You could really use just about anything as a filling, but make sure it is cooked first (although if its cooked and frozen - like the veges - I don't always thaw it first). Then mix together 2 eggs with 3/4 cup vanilla yogurt - the amounts here might vary a bit depending on the size of your pie pan, you want the egg mixture to cover the top of the filling. Then bake at 350 degrees F for about one hour or until firm.
This can be served hot, warm, or cold. It freezes well after baking and can be rewarmed in the oven.

could you do a big pot of stew/soup/chowder and then the quiche mentioned??
I like to serve something hot in the fall.
I have also had good luck with mini frittatas. I use the recipe from RachelRay.
You can put whatever you have in them, peppers, cheese, meats etc. The small size (they are baked in a mini muffin tin) makes them easy to eat.

I think chilli is a good fall meal. Salad? Bread?

Sides - olives, pickles, baby carrots = zero prep time. Could do the chilli in a crock pot.
