Swimming in "stuff" makes me sick to my stomach - Page 4

we keep more then 10 but the key I have found is everything has to have a "home". We do not order happy meals anymore if we are in a hurry and running thru a crap food place. If grandma or someone takes them and they get the toy we have a shoe box they go in and they get played with and in a few months they get tossed.

I hate decluttering but the end result leaves me feeling all warm and fuzzy. It is just the work involved that drives me crazy!!

definitely that. Even when stuff is strewn all over the floor, it seems way less overwhelming if everything has a home. I don't have to pick it up and wonder where to put it.

Thats what we have started doing when we have fast food. if nothing else it eliminates the toy. Orrrr, you could be like me and tell them to take the toy out of the meal. I always have to repeat it a couple times, because I think a lot of people don't understand that a person wouldn't want a toy when they could have one for free. "Yes. I said, NO TOY please." :

re: family overbuying, I would try one last ditch at a heart to heart with them about why you want less stuff, and include in the discussion about how you will be donating the excess stuff whether it's brand new or not. Then, follow through. I bet a few tiems of them seeing brand new toys being sent elsewhere will cure them. There are so many other great ways to do special things for people, you can give them ideas and let them do those instead.

I'm so glad that my family understands where we're coming from. I don't envy those here who have families that don't get it.
