Swollen Gums/face is swollen too

Hi Mama's,

I'm new to the dental forum, and my gums are swollen. At least I think it's my gums. My jaw has jutted out due to the swelling, and my lips are tingling (from numbness) too.

I called the dentist today, and he said that I have an infection, and that I should take antibiotics. I normally don't like to take any sort of pill, but I was in pain and my lower jaw is sooo swollen right now.

I'm really hoping my face will return to its normal size soon, but in the meantime, is there anything I can do to help bring down the swelling? I'm rinsing my mouth with salt, I've put an ice pack to lower the pain...

I'm a mess and I need help .
