The mice were gone all summer and just this evening i was at the kitchen sink washing dishes, saw something moving out of the corner of my eye, looked over and sure enough it was a mouse, a baby mouse, they're living under the burners in my stove, YUCK, I HATE MICE! But i guess ya hafta live with them when you live in the woods, i've tried ALL the suggestions and nothing has worked yet but if i find something i'll let y'all know. This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Sigh, I just found evidence of mice in our garage tonight so I feel your pain.
:Some of DD2's prefolds were chewed up, I had cleaned out the car the other day, and left the basket out there. We'll trap them ASAP, I don't fool around with mice, we're in the SW and many of the mice here have Hantavirus. My old neighbor died of it so I am very cautious with mice now.
I've lived in the country my entire life and have always dealt with mice every year, the ONLY thing that I've ever found that works time after time, is the traps with the fake, scented cheese. They can be hard to find, only one store in my area carries them, which is where I will be headed first thing in the am.

We get rats. Our neighbors have a farm and their place is absolutely infested, so they come over to our place on almost a daily basis. At first, we tried using a live trap, but somehow, they learned and now they won't go near it. We think maybe they can smell fear on the trap somehow and we can't wash it off. I know that sounds strange.
We have tried EVERYTHING and only one thing works. We put out the pellet baits made by D-Con. They are trays full of poison pellets. It's a slow-working poison, so the mice take it back to their burrows and die in their sleep. The poison keeps them from decomposing, so they don't smell if they happen to be nesting inside your wall. They just sort of mummify. It's also nice because they don't die out where your pets can get them and possibly get poisoned. We just keep the trays out and when they get empty, we replace them. Works like a charm and we are SO relieved to find something that works. It's been a year now and we have not seen or smelled any dead rats.

Mice and rats are coming indoors because of the cooling weather - seeking shelter for winter.

Last winter we were over run with mice. They ate my car! I actually had to buy a new car because of wires being eaten. It was so bad I had to vacuum daily before I could put my children in their car seats and I lived in fear my 1 yr old was going to eat some of the droppings all over. Someone told me to try peppermint oil on cotton balls in the new car. It worked as long as I kept refreshing it every day or two. In the house we used homemade traps. I used to use the little have a heart type traps but when we found wires that almost caused a fire I decided the mice had to go. My husband took buckets and filled half way with water. Then he drilled holes in the top to attach a plank onto it like a teetertotter. At the end of the plank there was peanut butter. Then he made a ramp up the side to the plank. Mouse ran up ramp and out onto plank for the peanut butter and then fell into the water. We never use poison because we worry it will hurt our cats or dogs if they eat the bait or a mouse who ate the bait. Also if they eat poison they die in your walls and smell.
