What to do with a machine that needs fixing..

Hello ladies,
I have a cheap Brother sewing machine that needs to be serviced. I am not interested in paying to service it when it will cost just as much as the machine itself did. Besides I'm getting a new/better one for Christmas this year. I hate to just throw it away. So does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do with it. Like where to donate it? But they have to take it as is obviously. I keep thinking that it will be so useful still for someone who wants to pay to get it serviced. I think mostly it's just the tension that's off. It's a pretty good machine actually. If anyone on here wants it, I would be willing to pkg it up and send it if you want to pay for shipping. Any suggestions at all are appreciated. I will not just throw it away.
Thank you.

I'd freecycle it.

I'd either freecycle it or call around and see if any sewing machine shops would use it for parts.

Great idea, thanks so much! I had never heard of freecycle before, but googled it and already have a taker for the sewing machine in my area! And as an added bonus I found myself a bread machine!! I knew you gals would have the answer!

My broken old machines always sell well at garage sales. People buy them for parts. I'm always very detailed about what is wrong with them.

ETA: Misread your last post before and didn't realize your machine already had a new home.
