Welcome!

A few of us were wanting to start a group geared towards moms who are trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle! So here we are! Everyone is welcome! Share your goals and your frustrations with those cravings!

To get to know each other here's a little info on me!

Name: Sarah Lynne
Age: 21
Children: 1- son Austin (17 mo)
Due Date: Feb. 20
DH: Michael (21)
Goals: Drink my 8-12 glasses of water a day
Avoid eating out of boredom (a big problem for me!!)
Make better choices of what to eat (apple slices v.s. oreos & milk!)
Fun Fact: I'm tongue tied!
Thanks, Sarah Lynne, I really need this tribe!

Name: Heather
Age: 42
Children: 18yodd, 15yods, and my "bonus boys", 22 year old dear son-out-of-law and 14 year old tutee (person who receives tutoring)
Due Date: Feb. 10
DH: N/A
Goals: Eat at least three meals a day or large meals when I know I won't have time for all three; avoid dehydration, or at least deliberate dehydratuion to avoid having to pee, or at least only do that when absolutely necessary; ride my bike at least a little bit every day; sleep enough to avoid complete bitchy meltdowns.

Fun Fact: I have had a HUGE aversion to driving or riding in any gasoline-powered vehicle since becoming pregnant.

Welcome Heather Glad to have you! I've never been big on riding/driving in the car. The smell of gas gives me heartburn...figure that one out:

I've been doing really well today! I've been tracking my calories on Babyfit and, after calculating dinner already, I'm still under my calorie limit (I haven't even hit the low end number on my range!) So maybe after dinner I'll have a treat

I'm only on glass #4 for water, but I've had one glass of tea and a glass of milk too. So cheer me on to make it to at least 8 before bedtime!!

I did go for a walk around the block today with DS in his stroller. It was about 15 minutes long maybe? I'm planning on doing that every other day if I can because I don't go anywhere most days and I spend most of my day sitting or limitedly chasing a toddler (not very much space for him to go :P) I need the exercise!

Any ideas for a yummy treat thats not too sinful?

Blueberry juice!

Well, actually that's very sinful on the budget unless they have it on sale at Grocery Outlet.

I'm drinking it now thanks to your reminder; that's only the second full glass of liquid for me today unless a big bowl of potato-leek soup for lunch and rather watery oatmeal for breakfast count. I doubt if I'll EVER make it to the eight glasses a day I know I should be drinking, but at least today I'll be near a bathroom most of the day so I can do my best and get some sort of a baseline on how bad I am about it.

I do NOT want a micropremie! I'd much rather be arrested for public urination!

Welcome Gunter

Sweets are my biggest foe! And my dad (we live with my parents) went and bought 2-bite brownies today : I've been good and haven't had any! When DH gets home from work I'm gonna go to the store and reward myself to some sugar free sherbet I think
post #13 of 52
Sugar is a major downfall of mine, as well; the reason I don't eat much of it now isn't because I have a lot of self control or some magic bullet, it's because I have dental problems that make it very painful for me, but it varies in severity and I still eat more than I should.

Today I did pretty well. Breakfast was oatmeal with frozen apricots and almond milk and lunch was a big bowl of potato-leek soup and two large slices of bread dripping with margarine.

I seem to be having trouble gaining weight with this pregnancy and am THRILLED that I am finally back to my pre-preg weight. The baby is strong and measuring at or a bit larger than the due date, but I'm woried about my bones, since I'm not that far from menopause and according to Susun Weed, I should be carrying a good ten pounds more than I did when I was in my 20s. I know the baby will be okay, but I need to eat enough food for ME to be strong, healthy, and not a total buthole all the time!

Food and I have had a difficult relationship over the years and it's nice to have a sympathetic tribe I can talk to about it. I also work multiple "part time" jobs and have trouble finding time to cook and eat.

I want in!

Name: Stacy (34)
DH: Cory (32)
children: daughter Orange (5 years old) & one on the way, due Feb. 7th

Goals: To cut back on SUGAR, my main downfall (and craving!) & stock up on fruits, veggies, lean proteins, & lowfat dairy. I also need to drink more water & stay well-hydrated. For exercise, I would like to do more walking & streches/ easy yoga...
and keep my weight gain to a minimum.
I want to play too!

Name: Deadra
Age: 30
Children: Chachi 18 months (canine) Bonsai 10 years (feline)
Due Date: Feb. 16 or 18 depends which doctor I'm talking to
DH: Adam (29)
Goals: To eat everything I need to in a day, making sure to include enough calcium and protein which has been difficult for me. And to stop freaking out over gaining weight. (I can't come to grips with the idea that I am SUPPOSED to gain weight.) And to try and get more exercise in. (I don't like any maternity exercising, I really miss skipping and all of the stuff I can't do now, which always made me feel so good about myself.)
Fun Fact: I'm going to participate in NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo this year again.

Heather- Have you talked to your...nm duh you are UCing like me hehehe! I was gonna say maybe ask them about an extra suppliment for calcium?

Welcome Stacy!

Hope you can get past those sweets cravings!!

Welcome Deadra!!

Don't stress on the weight! I totally know that out of control feeling of "Is this too much weight?" Focus on how you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally! If you feel sluggish or worn out all the time you know its time to change something. If you feel refreshed and energetic (as much as you can when pregnant ) then you know you are alright! That's what will make for a healthy baby and a healthy mommy!!
Also, what is NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo?

So I did really good for snack. Mom tried to find me sugar-free sherbet at the store, but couldn't so she got me an orange push pop instead. It was only 90 calories and oh so yummy Nice little treat after a total good girl day.

Does anyone else have a problem taking their vitamin? It's not the vitamin I have a problem with it's remembering to take it!

My normal breakfast routine is....not good!

Before I was put on the gd diet, I ate cereal, or a bagel with cream cheese, or just a granola bar or some Carnation Instant Breakfast. The pregnancy hormones make me NOT want to be cooking first thing in the morning because the smell gets to me. (And I'm not a morning person, so I don't want to be cooking first thing in the morning anyway!) I've been eating eggs for the past week, and I'm tired of them.

What I NEED to do is go to the grocery store, get my salad greens all cleaned and torn and whatnot all in one day, and bake some boneless skinless chicken, so that I can just throw together a salad in the morning. It's depressing though! I went on Atkins a couple of years ago, and I loved being able to have eggs and bacon every morning. I wish my sense of smell would work with me right now!

I hardboiled what I had left of my eggs today, and they are already in the fridge, so that way I don't have to smell anything in the morning tomorrow. I've been going through eggs like crazy!

Looks like there are quite a few of us who want to (and at this point, it looks like I'm the only one that HAS to) cut down on sugar, so that makes me feel a lot better!
