I'm making dd2's Halloween costume and all I have left to do is hemming the skirt and overskirt. Here's my problem: The skirt is about 5 inches too long for DD. I know I should trim it, but I hate losing all of that material, especially when I know she'll grow 4 inches this year and never be able to wear it again.
The skirt is very full, so just sewing the lower edge up to the appropriate height leaves a lot of extra fabric. Also, the overskirt is sheer, so it will show up underneath. Is there some way to save this, or should I just cut?
