Nutritional/ self-help support during pregnancy?

Hi all,
I'm a former PPD/ pregnancy depression survivor. I'm now 24 weeks pregnant with baby four, having a hard time in certain areas of my life (particularly DH) and my mood is on my way down, hard and fast. Right now, I know I'm not at the point where I need meds yet (though I'm starting to scare myself), but I do need to stop and take time to nurture myself and make sure that I have everything possible for good emotional, as well as physical health.

Any suggestions? I know B vits are meant to be good, and I just started taking my omega 3s again. What else should I be looking at?

Also, in your experience, is there any correlation between low iron levels and mood? I'm wondering about getting the midwife to check my haemoglobin levels early...

I don't mean to hijack this post but I am looking for th same info myself. I tried Wellbutrin for a week and couldn't stand the side effects. ie headach every day, dry mouth, constipation, feeling of downing a pot of coffee all day. I am really needing something for prenatal depression that is natural. I am 19 weeks this week. So maybe someone can help us both out.

Yes, B Vitamins are essential as well as the omega-3's. Make sure you're getting a good quality fish oil (if you're not vegetarian).

For me, getting enough greens in my diet (spinach, kale - dark, dark greens) is ESSENTIAL. I need them every.single.day or even on meds, I feel myself being pulled down.

Also, cutting back on refined carbs and sugar. Have you read The Mood Cure? She's got a lot of good points and for me, her suggestions helped tremendously.

Good luck mama, I wish you all the best. We're here, if you need us.

Thankyou. I'll try the greens as well, AnnieJ.
