Non-plastic shower curtain liner?

I'm all done with the plastic ones. What are my options? Ideally I would like to be able to make one out of a sheet or something. Cus I'm cheap like that. But how to waterproof? Has anyone done this? Am I silly? And if so , where do I find one? Thanks

I have a "hotel" shower curtain. Its white and cloth and designed like a hotel shower curtain. Works great and when it needs it I throw it into the wash.
Similar to this one:

but I know I did not spend that much on a shower curtain. Mine is about 10 years old and I cannot remember where I bought it.

You can just use cloth. It doesn't need to be waterproof, it just needs to stop splashes from getting on the floor. It will get wet itself, of course, but that won't hurt it any more than it would hurt a towel. Just wring it out and hang it outside the tub to dry and wash it regularly with the rest of your laundry. Depending on the humidity where you live, it may take a short time or a long time to mildew. The trick is to watch and when it starts to get yucky, that's your time frame. Just make sure you are washing it before it gets gross. Once a week should work just fine

When I moved into my house 8 years ago, there was just a cloth curtain. After 8 years of dealing with moldy liners, I finally decided to try to cloth, just as the previous owners had done. About 3 weeks and no problems at all. The cloth is pretty wet after showers (you put it inside the tub, just like the liner) but it hasn't molded yet and the floor stays dry.

I had hemp ones for over a year but simply could not keep mildew away I was good about keeping it washed regularly and spraying it with a homemade mildew deterring spray (with TTO). I know that may not be everyone's experience, but it is something to consider (esp. since they are not cheap!).

Now I have a nylon one as a liner with a cloth outer one. It seems a decent compromise - and no PVC.

I have the "hotel" type one too and I've had it a long time, it was expensive, I'm sure I used some type of coupon, but given the lifespan, a good deal. Still need to wash it but not as often as previously mentioned.

I have a polyester one from Target. It was $10 and I really like it.
