It's Holiday Sweatshop time!!

I've probably missed a thread on this already, but here goes . . .

What are your plans for holiday gifts from your sewing room?

Last year, I made fleece slippers, tote bags, and those rice bag pillows for compresses, and this year, I'm not so flush with ideas. I was thinking about making picnic blankets with a cotton top and a thin waterproof bottom layer (as this is something that I could use myself!). I'm still working on ideas for sewing for my 5 yo boys . . .

If I manage to get my sewing room organized (hahahah!) I'd like to make quilted potholders for my son's Mother's Day Out teachers, and embroider a dress for my niece.

It's not exactly holiday-related, but I also hope to finish piecing my son's baby quilt (2 years after I started it) and get going on quilts for my nephews, both due in November.

tote bags, ribbon scarves, mini quilts and quilted pot holders. I still kind of need ideas. Poinsetta pillows if I have time!

If anyone is looking for a great baby quilt/blanket idea: 1 layer of flannel and 1 layer of minkee (or fuzzy soft fabric) and binding. I made these for my babies and they love them and they are super easy to make!

grocery totes, aprons, play food, pj pants, throw pillows (made from a special pair of coveralls, and embroidered), yo-yo's arranged in a decorative frame, sachets, laptop caddy, purse, coasters, doll clothes, crayon caddy, a "close your clothes" book (clasps for kids to learn), fabric doll house, play canopy, felt board & pieces, and if i have time after all that, an embroidered fabric tea set :P

I'm almost done w/ Christmas gifts, only b/c I"m due early Nov w/ babe #3 and recognize I will NOT have the time to devote to sewing/ knitting/ crafting. So, things I've already made :

knit slippers
lavender-rice neck pillow
produce bags
felted wool balls
knit play food
knitted/ quilted potholders
criss-cross coasters
knit dishcloths
2 Waldorf dolls w/ diapers/ clothes
2 doll slings

Things I have left to do:

2 Waldorf teething babies
Advent calendar
quilted tree skirt
I-spy bags
dress up tutu
knit toy bag
3prs knit slippers

My real goal is to have MOST of this done by Nov 1, but I think I'm being overly ambitious. We'll see what happens.

I'm still really trying to come up with ideas. Maybe you guys will inspire me!

I had thought of casserole holders like this one:

and maybe some pot holders/oven mitts for mom, mil, sister, etc.

I'm stumped for DH and DS, though. And even trickier is finding time to work on their projects without them around! DS is homeschooled and almost always around.

Wow, great ideas! More please, we're inn the middle of construction and havent moved into our house(were currently living next door at inlaws) so I havent gotten the machine ouut yet, we'll be moving in the next few days hopefully!!!! So it'll be a major time crunch!!!!

The one thing I know Im going make is matching pj pants for ds and dh

Jammies, dresses, bathrobes.

Hats, scarves, mittens.

My Friend Doll clothes (my stash from childhood got caught in a flood independant of my dolls, so they're all nekkid and the kids love to play with them but lament regularly that they don't have any clothes!) for all four dolls

Barbie clothes for We Three Friends (for whom you can only buy more clothes if you buy NEW DOLLS who are wearing said clothes...)

that casserole holder looks AWESOME! I'm thinking that I've seen some metallic padded fabric that may work as an insulator...

That's all I've come up with so far, besides the tree skirt and napkins that I've been meaning to make for five years...
