I'm doing some research on comforters. I grew up with silk comforters (thats why I have now) and I love them. I'm getting comforters for the girls and wondering what others like or dislike.

We currently have down alternative down comforters and LOVE them. I am not sure how natural it is, as we did not do any research prior from the purchase. I love it because it is very warm in the winter, cool in the summer and it is also very light.
We also had down comforters before and the comfort level is the same as the down alternative. However, we don't like it because the feathers will come out and it can even go through the duvet cover. I think DH is allergic to the comforter as he sneezes all the time when we are changing the covers.

I also have the down alternative and really like them. When doing our son's room, I wanted a comforter that I could throw in the wash and one that I didn't need to worry about allergies. I liked it so much that I got one for our bed. (I use duvet covers)
BTW - I grew up with all down and never thought I would switch.

Comforters
We slept under down for many years, but just this past year I bought two wool comforters. I LOVE THEM! The wool filling stays where it belongs, I don't wake up sweating, the comforter does not bunch up, etc., etc.Love the wool comforters!!

Has anyone tried wool & silk comforters? I'm thinking about the ones here.
They seem very reasonably priced and I've shopped there before.

I'm also a fan of the down alternative... I can't do down at all, causes me *pain* (sinuses/headache). I love that it's warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot so I can sleep with it all year 'round and throw it in the wash frequently.
One thing that puzzles me though is that when I was on a hunt for a new comforter they all seemed to be too small... they just barely go over the edges of the mattress.
