Spent the night at a home with fleas! Pro-actively treat my cats?

We all spent the weekend in a home that was recently treated for fleas. While we were there I saw a few on me and my toddler. I am concerned they may have travelled home with us as I saw one on me in my husband's truck. I do NOT want my house to get infested, so should I treat my two cats with frontline or something? Would that hopefully take care of the problem before they take over my house?

Did the cats go with you? If they did, treat them... If not, don't. Either way, you should wash everything you took in really hot water. Lavendar EO is supposed to repel fleas- and it does to a point. Orange EO is better, but dangerous around cats (though you could use it in the truck). The fleas will multiply in furniture, clothing, carpeting, and bedding around you-- not go directly for the cats if they came in on you!

You can check to see if you ARE infested. Tonight, put a pan of water in the floor (where you think the fleas are hanging out) and focus a couple of bright lamps on it. Turn out all the other lights and leave the lamps on all night. In the morning, check the pan of water for dead and swimming fleas *eck*

I don't really know what I'd do. I'd probably wait and see, but I'm not for sure. My cat is indoor only and this summer had fleas. I found out because one morning after dh and I woke up, we had horrible flea bites all over our legs, they were in our bed! I had over 20 and they hurt! I hate pesticides but had to use Advantage on her. I just used a couple drops though (a tube of advantage has 4 drops, I think) because she only weighs 6 pounds. They died after that and we never had reinfestation after. I only used the Advantage once.
