Help me work through this. . .

We're getting things in order to pull ds from ps to hs. I'm excited and he's been excited about the prospect of doing more field trips and less desk time. The thing is, he is sooo social. Not that he gets much of a chance to socialize at school (just one lunch period for the whole day), but he loves to be around other kids. I'm just worried because I need social interaction so much less than he does and I'm worried that arranging to do things with other homeschool families will be too taxing for me. I'm an introvert and he's an extrovert. It really taxes me to spend time with people too much.

What do you think about this problem? I'd love some perspective and perhaps someone to tell me they've btdt and things still turned out great. Is this going to work? i

Playgrounds!!

You can sit off to the side with a book or some crochet and he can run around and socialize with all the kids.

Remind me how old he is... I'm thinking you're pulling him from 1st grade but correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe see what your homeschool community has to offer in the way of classes, group get-togethers that don't require the parent (or every parent) to be there. It would seem like lots of people are in the same situation either because they can't take as much social time as their child requires or because they have small children or babies to attend to. You could also do alternating drop-off playdates.

I also agree with the PP about playtime at places where you can just hang out and watch while reading, etc.
