This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

It's going.
We had a busy weekend so we are enjoying our more usual (and preferred) downtime. Dd had a bit of a cold that she is on the road to being over, but we are feeling pretty tired. Today we just hung out around the house. Dh took off for work at 5 am and we probably won't see him for a few days at least so it's just us at home.
We had a nice dinner and the kids watched the new Heroes and Journeyman which was cool. Dd spent some time drawing her fave band members and they turned out cute! It looks like quite a bit of rain is heading our way so we will likely be in tomorrow too. Ds said he wants to take a bike ride in between showers though.
Dd just went to bed and Ds is upstairs typing something. I am almost ready for bed, but not quite.

It's going here, too
We are having a fairly relaxed week. It's week 9 for us and we're all a little antsy, so we're heading out and doing more...if the weather cooperates
I have also found a potential homeschool group to join, so that's good news.

We're having a good week so far. I think part of the reason is that we're in an easy section of math (multiplication with 5 and 10), so we're getting through pretty quickly.
We did a lot of reading yesterday, including The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen. Either I never read it or completely blocked my memory, and didn't realize it was so sad. I usually preview things I'm not sure of, but didn't on this one. My 7 year old was a bit stunned I think, and I wasn't prepared to discuss 'why' we read it - I stumbled through a little discussion on helping others, but it felt inadequate.
We also watched a documentary on Columbus and finding one of his ships, and it said it was rated G but it was sooo not rated G. I shut it off after a few minutes.
Today my 7 y.o started a lapbook on his favorite book My side of the Mountain. He was writing down the date the author was born, and said, "hang on, I've got to go do some math!" He ran to the chalkboard and figured out how old she is on his own.
We also went to the libary and took out all the books we could find on basketmaking and camping/outdoor survival - the 7 y.o's current passions - plus a few random books the little kids grabbed. We currently have 82 books out of the library, and 13 on request.

We are having a heck of a time getting on track, lol. Today I went to the Project WILD workshop so our week won't even start until tomorrow! But we are starting the Middle Ages by request. These darn kids with their own ideas are really throwing off my classical history schedule!! We still have 4 Ancient and 2 Classical Civilizations to cover before the Middle Ages!!
(That was meant to be sarcastic! sort of

We are also starting Animals Around the World from Winter Promise this week. We are not using it the way it is laid out in the manual (not that we use anything the right way!
). We are going to pick and choose from the reading selections and activities.
Thursday I am teaching a finger knitting class at co-op.
Friday we are going to the planetarium at the community college

I just finished my last midterm today
*WHEW*
We've managed to keep up with the calendar + weather graph & community classes via the homeschool group.... We've also read a great number of autumn related picture books together (a nice change for me since my kid never liked picture books before: now that she's learning to read them herself they're all right I guess so I don't go hoarse reading chapter books constantly)
:
Now, she's sick, though
: We'll take it easy for a while yet! Maybe flipflop from a community focus to more sit down stuff at home? (If she wants)
