Clients Bags

I know that there is already a similar post right now about client bags, but this is a little different.

I want to know what kind of a birth professional you are, if you hand out client gift bags, and what you put in them if you do.

Or if you don't, but want to, what would your ideal bag include?

I'm a doula. I've been on hiatus with my new baby, but in the past I put together a bag with samples on lansinoh, an issue of Lamaze magazine (which came with samples like a diaper, balmex, or baby wash), and whatever other samples I had collected from conferences/workshops/etc., usually some disposable breast pads, some Traditional Medicinals teas, whatever.

Now I'm getting ready to take clients again and I'm revising. Lamaze has stopped publishing, so when I run out of my current box that'll be the end of that. I'll probably do a bulk order of Mothering and possibly Compleat Mother (though honestly, that would only be for my truly crunchy clients!). I just got the professionals' pack from gDiapers, which included a bunch of coupons, so I'll be giving those out. I love the natural mama and baby care samples I've gotten from Illumina Organics (http://www.iluminaorganics.com/), so I'll probably check with her and see how much it would be to buy a bunch of sample-size baby wash and nipple cream or belly cream. Probably call up TM and ask for some samples of their pregnancy and breastfeeding teas. I wonder if Medela would send me some breast pad sample packs again too... Oh, and we have a local organic food delivery place that usually has 10% coupons available, so I'll include some of those -- very handy for a new mama to get her groceries delivered to her door. In an ideal world where I made lots of money as a birth professional (), I'd include some cloth diapers, too. Prefolds are very affordable, but I'd need to figure out what kind of cover I could afford to include, and so many parents are intimidated by them. Hmmm. Maybe I'll finally learn how to sew and start including a simple sling or FB-style diaper.

Sorry this is so rambly! Can you tell I used your post to think this through for myself?

I'm only an assistant but when I have my own practice (in several years ), I'd like to have a bag that offers things that they wouldn't get in other freebie bags.

Mothering back issues

some kind of natural baby wash (maybe you can get sample/travel size of Burt's Bees baby bee in bulk?)

coupon (if I could get them) for the nearby baby store that sells cloth diapers, slings etc

EMAB samples if I could get them

handknit washies (I could knit them during labors)

../3 (that was my 17mo using the computer when I stepped away )

I think you need to be very careful about who you allow to advertise through you.

I make things (hats, diapers, maybe a wrap or sling if I know they are interested, it all depends) for doula-clients, and have local coupons or fliers in my CBE manuals for companies I know and trust. (mainly other WAHMs, post partum doulas, baby massage and yoga etc). I always have a Kozy Kushion in my car for help with positioning babies. Why are hospital beds so awful for nursing?!

If I know they will be using a certian product, I'll bring it to the pp meeting with me.
