That is absolutely sickening.

The link you provided has spyware imbedded in it. Could someone please provide a different link...I had to click cancel for the spyware 6 times before it would bugger off...
Um, does that mean I have spyware now on my puter? (OT, do you have a good spyware purging program to recommend? PM me.)

Back on topic, I don't have time to write all those people, who would be best to contact? Most bang for my buck, so to speak?

I am willing to try to help.

That is horrible and completely unjust.

Wow. I had no idea that the newborn screening was MANDATED. So what if you had a home birth?

if you have a homebirth once you file for a birth certificate, they start sending you certified letters and calling you until you comply. if after a period of time you dont, they start with the CPS crap.

i'm ashamed that I live in a state where religious and parental freedoms are slowly ceasing to exist.

Depending where you are, home birth midwives do the pku (like here in ONtario) or you can take the baby to a doctor.

BUt it shouldn't be grounds to call CPS!

It's super creepy how our government(s) are slowly taking away parental rights. It's like THEY "own" the children, or something... :

That entire situation is sickening and hurts my heart!

Parents don't "own" their children either. The children have rights all of their own, the state just tries to protect them. or would you prefer people are free to abuse their kids because they own them?

Anyone got a clean link to the story?

This has the Judge's contact number if you want to call them. It's on page 2.

You seem to be saying that the State always acts in the best interest of the child and if the parents do not agree then they are abusive.

The state of Nebraska is arguing that parents who decline a metabolic screening for their newborn are neglectful and risking harm to the baby. The state's solution is to completely separate a nursling from his lactating mother.

Not breastfeeding is proven to be hazardous to the health of both infant and mother.

How does this brutal, Gestapo-like action by the state of Nebraska "protect" this infant's best interests?

Why on earth is this baby in foster care over this?

I don't understand why they didn't seize custody, do the tests while the baby was in custody, then return him to his parents? Or temporarily take away medical decision making and do the testing without ever taking away physical custody?

Has the baby actually been in foster care all this time and not had the newborn screening done yet? Are the other children still in the home?

Was she actually denied the chance to BF long term, or was she just told she couldn't BF during court proceedings?
