Straining to get out

Thread Starter
My baby is 3.5 months, and for the last few weeks she seems to try and get out of any seat we put her in. She strains her head forward instead of relaxing. Will this hurt her if she is in a car accident? She also strains her arms and legs. Is this part of learning to sit? She rolls over all of the time now, so she is semi-mobile. Is there any way to make her relax?

Thanks

Will does the same thing. I have just assumed it is part of learning to sit up - he is actually extremely close to sitting on his own - and have not worried about it too much. After a bit of straining, he will relax and ride peacefully.

DS strains like that whenever he is in a semi-reclining position. He just cannot stand not to be sitting upright. We just got a Britax, and I am hoping that ridiing in a more upright posture will allow him to feel more in control.

Sounds perfectly normal. We are always telling dd to just relax! It seems she is in a constant stomach crunch position. We finally bought an exersaucer which allows her to be upright. Car seats and bouncy chairs and swings just weren't working anymore. Of course, the sling is always great because they can be held upright.
