Monkey costume pattern HELP

Yesterday afternoon our almost 2 year old who rarely talks said "George, monk, ween." With talking to him I got out that he wants to be George the monkey for halloween. Big problem here is we live in FL. Any of the monkey patterns are for fur and really heavy stuff. I'm looking for one that I can make with either light weight knit or broadcloth, something light weight. It was in the upper 80's last year when we had dd at the Boo at the Zoo. It looks like it might be a little cooler this year, but still very warm. If anyone has seen a pattern that they think might work please let me know. I've been horribly sick with a sinus infection for a month now and I'm getting to work on costumes very late after catching up on work orders.

You could just make ear like these http://sewing.about.com/od/hallowee1...tmouseears.htm and a tail to tuck into the back of his trousers and give him a banana to carry. Then he could wear a brown t shirt or sweatshirt depending on the weather.

Thanks, I was looking at using a one piece pajama pattern if I couldn't find any other patterns. Those ears would work great with that! If I go that route I think working the tail out would be the hardest part now.

For the tail you could make a brown yarn braid and saftey pin it to his waistband.

I would just sew a tube of brown fabric on 3 sides, turn it inside out and stuff it. Maybe stick a length of wire in with the stuffing if you want to be able to bend it.

I'm sure I've seen someone here say they made tails from tubes of fabric with a flap at the end to tuck in the waist band of the child's clothes.

If you are sewing a costume you could sew the tail straight into the seam at the appropriate place

I just found this pattern McCalls Monkey pattern in my box of patterns, but none of the pieces are in it which is odd as I have never used the pattern. The good thing is I also got my Hancock Fabrics ad yesterday in the mail and McCalls patterns are 5 for $5 this weekend. Since I still have to get a Cinderella pattern for dd and there is a McCalls one that will work really well. Since I've got everything other then the actual pattern pieces I can also work out what I would need to change to make it light weight. The list of fabric starts of with fake fur and fleece, but it also lists knits so this should work well YAY! Thank you so much everyone for your help.
