My mother wants to try knitting some soakers She asked me why dye wool yarn with koolaid rather than buy already dyed yarn? I didn't have an answer.. she thinks the koolaid thing is weird..

So why?

TIA

I have no idea!! :LOL I would assume b/c it uses food grade dyes that it would be safer for baby with less harsh chemicals than factory dyed yarns.

Oh, you can use commercially dyed yarn, but then you miss out on all the fun of using your own hand-dyed Blue Raspberry and Grape vareigated yarn.
That's my reason, anyways.

I started dyeing becuae I could never find colors I liked. Also, I wanted to use wool that was an unprocessed as possible, and that means unbleached and undyed, adn then I know that the kool-aid isn't toxic or anything so I felt safe using that to dye the wool.

It's a fun art project and you can do it without any special equipment, right in your kitchen. I have a lot of fun with it... You never know how it will turn out until it is done.

Great reasons, ladies!

I admit it... the prospect of dying my own yarn with koolaid excites me more than knitting up the yarn.

Also, there is no way I could afford to buy this many colours for one soaker
