My daughter reacted to the 2 month vaccines. I'm not sure what all the vaccines she received were but I know she got the DTP (at the time they didn't routinely give the DTaP) and the dead polio vax (because I wouldn't let them give her the live one). She had the high pitched/non-stop scream, actually right after the vaccines she fell asleep as soon as I picked her up but not much later maybe 20 minutes she woke up and had the high pitched scream. The ped said it was a 'normal' reaction of course. :rolleye

He COULDN'T be put down- panicky sweaty scream. He developed reflux, lactose intollerance (in my milk) (never had a problem before) and thrush-severe thrush and choked to blue point all the time for 2 weeks. Excema severly.

We also had lethargy that lasted for a while. He was just in his own world. Scary- and all the Dr's said "Oh he's fine, no problems- all normal vax stuff. If he's not better in 2 weeks then we will look at him" and to think I fell for it. What's even worse is we vaxed him 2 more times before I knew- KNEW better! How horrible I feel about my poor Jacob.

He took 3 years for him to "come back" from his vax issues. He is pretty normal 5 year old. Still has ADD and eye contact aversion. He also is in his own world. He used to walk in circles for hours, now he only does that if he's stressed out.

ETA: We never had the Rotovirus, not to my knowledge anyway.

Yarngoddess, I am glad you son is doing better but I am so sorry you had to experience those 3 years. The whole thing sounds very painful and I don't wish that on anyone.

hugs

My daughter had her first DTaP at 3m. I had been on the fence about it and kept putting it off. I decided to take the plunge thinking that if I could deal with the first set then I could 'get over' all my worries about the decision making and just carry on - bury my head in the sand so-to-speak and go with the flow. Even writing about it just makes me so angry at myself - Argh!. At 3m my daughter was smiling now, making eye contact, focusing and starting to babble. She had the shot, seemed fine the next day then the crying started. She had crying fits for a week like she had never had before or since. She had always been a calm, laid back, sleepy baby. During this week she had unbelievable crying fits - completely unconsolable and then would just crash for hours. Definately not typical for her up until that point or even after that week. She stopped smiling, she stopped making eye contact and stopped making sounds. She seemed vacant. Really vacant, like a shell of herself. As if that wasn't scary enough her head would 'shudder'. Not for long but it was so freakish because the movement with involuntary and fast - just like a shudder. I saw it happen about 5 times. My husband saw it and my sister completely freaked out when she saw it. Lastly, within 2 weeks of the shot her legs exploaded with excema.
Slowly she started to come back about 6 to 8 weeks later. The smiles were very slow and sporadic, the eye contact too but it was happening. Sounds came way later (after 12m -- talking started at 17m) but they did come and that may just be her or the vax damage but I will never know. In fact lots milestones were slow but they did come. The excema was a crazy battle but we have it under control pretty much now. Fish oil and bio-k have really helped in that dept we feel.
Anyway, I am a mainstream gal from a mainstream family. By that, I mean, I grew up relatively healthy in a traditional family following traditional views and values (whatever that is I suppose). I just had that feeling that intuition not to vax but I didn't listen to it and I really wish I had. We have not vaxed since. I read and try to be as informed as best I can but I feel so relieved at not continuing that path. We are also lucky in that we have a very supportive family doctor who understands that it's a parent's decision when it comes to making choices for their kids.
I should also mention that we did not know enough about anything at the time and unfortunately did not report anything. We spoke to our doctor who listened and was in agreement with our choice not to continue.
Poppy is turning 2 next week and is a happy, healthy, smiling chatterbox. Phew!

Yep, I'm here, though I could post on every single thread you've started Tracy (up until 6 months when we stopped vaxing.)

I could also post if there were a thread about reactions in utero to a flu shot I was given when 3 months pregnant.

Looking back, I'm certain dds problems began w/the flu shot. Of course, there is no way of proving that and then things really got bad with all the vaccines at birth.

My baby was born with clear skin and bright eyes. A few hours later she was taken for all the routine "stuff" and her eyes were somehow different - darker, hard to explain. Her skin was red and ruddy. She did not sleep and had trouble latching. Her GERD began almost immediately.

The major trouble was that she didn't sleep. I mean, she didn't even sleep in the hospital after birth like almost all babies do.

She didn't sleep more than 90 minutes at a stretch (and those times were few and far between) until she was almost 18 months old.

Okay, well, she did sleep 3 hours at a stretch a few times when she was *almost* 18 months old.

After that her routine vaxes until she was 6 months always resulted in swelling, hot, red lumps and of course, fussiness and WORSE sleep - if that could have been possible.

You can read our story in my siggy.

Great thread Tracy! Thanks for starting it. It's important.

Then he started screaming (not just crying, but this scream that I've never heard before) and he kept it up for 3 and 1/2 hours.
I feel sooo bad too. I didn't know anything about vaccines, just did it because I thought I had to (not a good excuse, I know)

Update on dd's symptoms now that I read more about reactions,
she was also crying while nursing, which was heartbreaking. She never had problem nursing or sleeping. And the high pitched crying, which I thought was normal until I found this forum.

We did go back to the ped because she had diarrhea and crying spells in the evenings for over a week before she never cried for anything but hunger) doc said everything is normal, and it has nothing to do with vaccination.

She is now 4 months old and seems to be ok. I'm so glad this forum is here. It gives me courage to stick up to what I know is right. and that I'm not just imagining things no matter what the drs say.

I have so much research to do..

My little goober had a reaction at two months. He stopped babbling, he was fussy and stopped smiling. A couple of days later he had blood in his stool and I was told he had allergies! He would react to so many foods that I was on a very strict diet.

My sister had warned me about vaccines but being a nurse I "knew" better. Well, I started doing the research and was shocked at what I found.

He never received another vax and he is a happy and healthy 4yr old. He goes to daycare where croup and all types of viruses are rampant and he never gets sick.

He did develop horrible food allergies and would break out with a very weird white rash all over his mouth/cheek and no one could tell me what it was. I finally took him to a chiropractor and a year later he has no more allergies.

Did he just outgrow them? I don't know, but I believe a combination of stopping vaxes, breastfeeding for 2.5yrs, and chiropractic care is what stopped what could have been permanent damage. I thank God that I was lucky enough to know I had a choice. My co-worker was not so lucky, her son reacted to the MMR and he is autistic now with numerous food allergies. I truly believe there is a connection.

EDIT TO ADD: He was diagnosed with speech delay and I will always wonder if the vaxes/reaction had anything to do with this?

OUt of curiousity, is it you who saw the connection to the MMR or her? And what did she get any support on it from medical community on it?

makes me so sad.

good for you, Mamm2, for following your instincts.
No, she did not see the MMR connection. He is 12yrs old now and she stopped listening to the medical community and is seeing an ND who has done wonders with him.

I mentioned the MMR connection and I believe she has done the research. She now is anti-vax!

We delayed dose 1 until 4 mos. Didn't see anything alarming. We took dd in for dose 2 at 9 mos. I made the appt. and as soon as I hung up the phone I felt intense anxiety. I didn't think it was anything real but now I know it was my intuition telling me not to go through with that. She got dtap, hib, polio, and hep b. dd didn't seem that different the first day, then the 2nd day she had a fever 100+ all day. She would cry if not held, so dh and I took turns all day holding her constantly. She would doze off in our arms, but wake when we tried to put her down. She was just starting to crawl, but that day she would crawl about 3 steps and turn and look at me and cry. The next day she was back to normal. That was her last vax.

I know lots of other families have gone through much worse, and my heart goes out to you. Nonetheless, I will always remember sitting with my weak, crying baby in my arms and wondering, what if she never crawls again?
