Hi there--
I'm planning to make a quilt from my girls' baby clothes, many of which are made of knit fabrics. From what I've read, the usual thing to do (like with a T-shirt quilt) is to fuse interfacing to the fabric and then cut it out for the quilt. I'm just trying to think through other options since it seems to me that using fusible interfacing will make the whole thing feel sort of crunchy.
Would it feel better if I fused the fabric to another stabilizing fabric (like muslin) instead? Are there kinds of fusible web that would feel softer than others?
Or can I make it work if I just piece the blocks and just sew them onto a muslin foundation without any fusible web at all? (or maybe just stabilizing the stretchiest knits)
Thanks for thinking this though with me, it's been keeping me up at night!!
