I am just sitting here looking at the next few weeks and realizing that this coming weekend is really the only free one to get stuff done. So I am skimming down my To DO list and trying to figure out what my Final Checklist is going to be.

So far I think....

1) Installed 2nd car seat base in DH's car
2) Clean out baby closet and finish putting away clothes
3) Clean out our closet
4) Clean out my car
5) Buy must haves...detergent, TP, etc, for after baby
6) Finish packing hospital bag

You?

LOL That's ok. I have been at work for about 7 hours now, totally not ready here for maternity leave, and have gotten nothing...nothing nothing nothing...done.

Final checklist:

1. Get homebirth supplies ready - TOMORROW!
2. Clean out at least one more drawer for baby clothes, if not two and figure out what to do with the stuff from that drawer (all my random crafting crap).
3. Mail out gifts for all the people I know who've had babies in the last 2 months.
4. Pray that DH works his butt off and gets the kitchen back into some semblance of working order before I lose my mind and my parents/friends get tired of having me impose on them for meals.

--get all my work stuff done! (grant proposals, grant reports, fundraising letters, a newsletter -- YIKES)
--get car seat so hubby can install it
--write in journal

The work stuff is the big elephant in the living room that I have been ignoring...

Joanna, My DH loooves that song!!! : Maybe if put it on a continuous loop he'll be motivated and actually help me get some stuff done!

Here's what's left of my list, but there's more I haven't added yet

- Do a practice run filling & emptying birth pool
- Finish up a little more of the Christmas shopping
- Present from Allison for baby
- Plan other SILs baby shower (just need supplies for games- It's this Saturday!)
- Make and freeze some meals
- Bring up from basement and find space for swing
- Still need to buy:
*car mirror
*extra carseat base
*changing pad & cover
*gripe water
*hamper
- Buy/gather remaining homebirth supplies
*heating pad (have one, need one more)
- Make Allison's Halloween Costume
- Go through ebay/goodwill stuff, get it out!

AARGH. My mom just told me that I am not having a shower till after the baby is born (that was originally our plan but now I want one NOW). So I have to go out and buy some stuff. *sigh* I guess the main thing is diapers- we are using disposables for the first few weeks. My main "to do" list in the sticky is still not complete but I don't think it will be anytime soon... So here is my "must do" list:

~get diapers and wipes
~clean out car
~install car seat
~pack baby's stuff in hospital bag
~order some booby tubes
~finish washing diapers and baby clothes
~wash all parts of basinette
~WRITE BIRTH PLAN!!!!

*sigh* I can't believe I have not even done my birth plan yet. I think I am going to sit down tonight and do it once and for all. It ain't gonna write itself!

ETA: I just re-read everyone else's lists and found that I need to buy more stuff than diapers and wipes- I don't have a changing pad or burp cloths or anything. aargh.

Wow I actually feel like I've accomplished a lot this week. A few stragglers left:

-get dog treats "from the baby" to distract them when we bring the baby home
-buy size 1 diapers
-cook and freeze (why does this require a trip to the store for each dish?
-anxiously await the delivery of burp cloths and bouncy seat
-finish packing snacks bag for hospital
-put carseat in car & get it checked out by fire dept
-buy gripe water/mylicon? (should I have some on hand just in case?)
-write thank you notes!

If you're freaking about writing a birth plan, you don't have to write it from scratch. There are lots of templates on the internet - you just check off the boxes and they write it for you. No worries there! You can always add special stuff to it too, like if you don't want vax or eye goop or whatever.

I'm going to have Mylicon on hand this time around... had to learn about it with Dylan. Some babies have gas and some don't. Worst case scenario, you have it and don't use it. But if baby IS gassy, you will want it on hand!

Cool thanks for the advice! I'll pick some up when I get the dipes.

Here's my list...

- clean out car

- install base in car to see how it fits

- Fold and put away baby clothes

- Wash diaper covers

- Pay off the diaper lady so I can get the last of the stuff

- Finish the wool diaper covers and longies from the sweaters I cut up

- I really should pre-cook more than just two nights of taco meat and 3 nights of red beans...

- Take all work stuff back to work and store it in my office instead of my car

- Hope I like the acupuncturist on Tuesday and get together plan on possibility for induction should the need arise

- Call Psych and see about phone med check

- See about getting DSS's records and vital papers together so they're ready to go in one spot so we don't have to hunt for them in the chaos of a new baby.

- If I have time, make some babylegs for the baby and DD. I saw some cute socks at Walgreens today that would be cool for those. I've been avoiding Walmart for just that reason... Too many things I'd want to buy.

DItto that. I have no idea how I will get work ready for my departure. Starting to hit panic mode.

Reading over your lists reminded me of a few things I had totally forgotten about!
-Buy car mirror
-Let girls buy gift for the new baby and wrap

As my list stood before reading this thread:
-Get diaper area rearranged (still have to get some of dd's diapers out to storage and bring newborn ones down- keeping my fingers crossed that she's actually totally potty trained - only a handful of accidents in the entire past week!)
-Pack mine and baby's bag
-Pack surprise and necessity bags for the girls for birth center
-Write thank-you notes

Honestly, I think that's all I have left to do that's truly necessary. I have tons of household cleaning/nesting I'd like to do, as well as a bunch of sewing. But I'm really okay with some of that stuff not getting done.

Oh, all I can say is :

Clean a bit--vacuum, mop floors
