EDD question: What would you do?

Celeste mentioned my being due a week ahead in another post and it reminded me to ask the group what they think...

My official EDD if you go by a 35 day cycle is 11/30. I held onto this one because it also means should I transfer care to a doctor, I won't be pressured as early to be induced.

But everyone wants to go with the usual 28 day cycle EDD of 11/23.

My MWs are using 11/23. My mother. My husband. My friends. Everyone. And now that the MWs have officially used the EDD of 11/23 in all their books, if I transfer, that date will transfer with me.

I am eligible for a homebirth next Friday instead of two Fridays from now due to the discrepency in the dates. That scares me too because I would hate for baby to be a wee bit too premature, you know?

I am TIRED of having to say, "I am 34-35 weeks, depending on whom you ask." Or otherwise justifying the differences.

So what would you all do? Just go with the 11/23 so I don't have to keep explaining and/or getting aggravated? Or do I stick with the 11/30 EDD because Celeste is feeling left behind

Since you didn't have an u/s and you're pretty sure of the 11/30 due date, I would insist on sticking with that one. If you went into labor at 35 weeks (according to your edd), your baby WOULD be premature and it would not be wise to birth at home, kwim. Plus, if you do go overdue, they may insist on inducing prematurely, when maybe your baby needs an extra week to bake.

I did this last pregnancy. My due date was the 18th from LMP & b/c of some spotting I had an early US & they got the 25th, so that is what I let the medwives use the whole time to buy me some extra time (I was overdue w/1st pregnancy). I ended up going to the 8th of the next month, so I'm glad they got that latter date (2 weeks OD for them - 3 weeks from my EDD).

I would go w/the later date.

Go with what you have... 11/30th.

I hate how they come up with our due dates, as if all women have 28 day cycles and ovulate on day 14 of the month. I don't have ONE friend who has a 28 day cycle.

I had to firmly explain to my OB (I since switched to a midwife) that I know exactly when I ovulated and that my due dated didn't match what she predicted. The ultrasound was right on with what had thought, but otherwise she wouldnt' have let me change the due date.

I'd push to go with the 30th too-especially because it would really suck to have to transfer care and have them start talking induction or something when you really have an extra week not accounted for.
