Home Alarm System

Any suggestions for a home alarm system? I am moving into a new home and will feel more comfortable if I put an alarm in place. Any luck with a specific company?

I just wanted to put out there that you can have an alarm without having a contract with a company.

How would that work? Would the alarm just make a loud noise? Just curious, because I thought it was the alarm company was the one who actually contacted the police.

(Although, I guess if my house was emitting a very loud annoying noise, one of my neighbors might go ahead and call the police for free )

Our alarm system is of the 4 legged type.

It alarms me and I call the police.

I *think* (don't really know) that those types just hook into your phone line and the system itself calls the police and plays a recorded message. I *think*

We have one of those too, but she's getting old and doesn't hear as well as she used to. But still, being a 100lb Doberman, she just looks scary to folks who don't know better
