Newborn Socks

Where should I buy newborn socks. I heard Gap sock are good, but I can't afford $16.00 for 6 socks. DS used to kick his socks off all the time and his feet would get cold. What do you recommend for on a babies feet?

I am having the same issues. I have looked for socks and I am NOT happy with what I have found. My mom finally sent me some that I am so-so about but at least i now have them.

I always use socks and sometimes put booties on if the outfit isn't a sleeper.

Check out eBay. Sometimes you can get a Lot of new or used socks for a great price. Just watch the cost of shipping and the seller's feedback. Here's some Gap ones.

Old Navy socks are awesome too! And last week they were just $0.99/pair. (Not sure if that sale is still going.)

Children's place has a ton of very quality socks on sale for $0.99/pair as well right now. Bought a bunch today. Not sure if they have newborn socks, didn't really look since we have enough now. But they were smaller children's sizes that I got, and I know I saw some 6-12 mo. socks as I was sifting through looking for the bigger sizes.

I highly recommend going with the better quality socks if at all possible, like from Old Navy, Gap, or Children's Place. You won't regret it. They hold up so much better and stay on baby's feet soooo.... much better than cheap socks. The elastic NEVER wears out, I swear. We've had some of our socks in use for over 2 years now, and still looking great (although slighly stained.)

I really love the old navy socks, too... with ds they were the only ones to stay on....

I lucked out this summer and found a whole bunch of them on clearance at old navy, so we're set for the entire winter!

I have to agree with Alicia. Socks for us from Old Navy and Gap have been really great for active kids.

Hey, I wonder if the local Gymboree outlet has some cute ones. Though their prices aren't very cheap there sometimes either!

Gap socks are THE BEST for active, mobile kids because they are really well-made and have grippers on the bottom so the kids don't slip on hard floors. However, I found their newborn socks really annoying--they always fell off. I don't recommend them. I wouldn't spend a ton of money on infant socks, since they don't exactly get a lot of wear and tear. Just find ones that don't slip off easily or you'll be constantly searching for missing socks! You'll be shocked how quickly and efficiently those little kicky feet can work off a sock!

I gave up on socks for DD very quickly when I found nothing would stay on her feet, no matter what the brand. She just lived in sleepers with feet or the few pairs of pants that had feet for the first 3 months until it got warm and we had a beautiful early summer and late summer so by the time socks were needed again, they were bigger and easier to keep on her (although even then I mostly didn't bother in the house - it was much easier for her to learn to walk without them).

This time I am going to try a combo of either babylegs with socks or the little nordic slippers from Hanna Andersson.

Old Navy and Children's Place are the same kind as GAP just a fraction of the price and worth it! I love them. I got some good ones thru our online shower can't remember the name of them tho:

I get most of my socks from Target and never had a problem, but it sounds like I'm missing something!

Old Navy socks will stay on when others won't and they're nice and thick too which is nice for winter. I haven't even thought about socks though since most of the clothes I have are little romper/sleeper/one piece things. I found those easiest with ds since they don't ride up....

try a goodwill or 2nd hand store and sterilize wash like dipes or even you can find new in pckg ALL THE TIME for NB socks... I like the gerber ones they seem to stay on well and are long enough not to pop off.. I also LOVE Robeez slippers , I see the tiny ones in thrift shops all the time, often in the new pckg (they are a bit pricey new).. I need socks too...

I got all my baby socks at used stores. I just washed them like normal. *shrug*

For James I prefer Gymboree socks for winter. They are sooo thick and warm. For summer I love Old Navy socks. Unfortunatly, we're dirt poor most of the time so his socks usually come from Wal-Mart. I don't like them well, they stain easily, don't hold up in the wash well and get holes, but they are only $6 or $7 or a 10 pack...

We have very few newborn socks because we typically put the baby in sleepers. But I have to agree that Old Navy and Children's Place have good socks. I love GAP socks but they are pretty ridiculous.

I vote barefoot! Newborn foot are done to be touched skin to skin. Though, I would probably cover the foot with a blanket if going outside in a cold climate. :

My kids always seem to have the coldest feet! I have always put them in socks under sleepers or booties. BUT maybe this one will be my hot foot. I will just have to kiss the toes enough to keep them warm!

I am hunting socks! I like the house kind of cold actually and so everyone else tends to have to bundle up. I am winter goddess that is supposed to be a fire sign. LOL

Old Navy online has some bargian socks and so it might be worth the $5 shipping if I also get some warmer sleepers for older kids too!

This will be my third cold-weather baby and after #1 I never bothered with socks. We called her the one sock bandit. They just never stay on. Maybe I'll check out Old Navy for some cheap ones and try it out with this one.

I remember with my son church people freaking out as baby was always sockless...... bad parents! So now I am paranoid, I need SOCKS. Lots of socks and so far I have none!

Can you tell we are hanging onto End of Pregnancy by a strand when we spend hours on MDC talking about baby socks?

Yeah, I had dd1 in May in Kansas, so the weather was pretty warm, but if she didn't have socks and a blanket over her, I would get some pretty ugly stares and comments...and yes, especially from church people! She was a hot baby.
