My Coochy is El Negativo

I did the GBS test two weeks ago and it's negative. Yay!

But they also told me from the same test I was negative for yeast and other bacterias. Good to know, but I asked about why...

They said that since it's a vaginal swab they do all kinds of tests and luckily they do because they've found a couple of women with nasty strains of bacteria that might be harmful to the baby.

I don't know just how much actual truth is in that, but it sounded like a possibility. One of their clients have a pneumo something or other strain of bacteria.

Anywhoo, just something to think about.

I just saw something about how all these really nasty bacteria can be found on our skin, but unless we ingest them somehow, they aren't going to do damage. I wouldn't doubt that some women have gotten some of these nasties in delicate places. Not sure how it would be that much of a danger to baby unless there was a lot of birth trauma or a huge colony. Almost makes you want to wash your hands before and after toileting...

I've done that!

But yah, I was thinking that because baby is coming nose and eyes first, perhaps that's the route of entry?

I thought about that maybe offending someone. It woke me up thinking about it. Sorry!

But I can say, all the extra lil stress that GBS test put on me because I feel like I have been teetering on the edge of am I going to have a homebirth or not AND the fact that this pregnancy is my ONLY one where I didn't have repeated yeast and bacterial infections.. well I guess I am entitled to mouth off.

But I SO didn't mean to say anyone else isn't "clean".... We're all a bit nasty under a microscope, aren't we?!
