I made a bunch of cloth wipes, rags, etc. They get a lot of use and I have noticed that on some of them the corner where I had to tie off the serged end is unraveling. Is this just going to happen over time or is there something I can do to prevent it. I don't like the fray check stuff and the needle pulling the thread under looks really funny to me.

I only ask because this is the method I use all the time on my serged items, and I have no problems with unraveling at all.
I use a double-eyed needle like this, and it takes me just a second to tuck those tails in. Probably less time than it would take me to tie.
As far as how the finished product looks, you can't even see the tucked-in tail, since I run the needle between the two layers (I make 2-layer wipes, rags, etc). I suppose if you're serging one layer only, you'd have to see the tail under the stitching, but I don't think it would bother me. At least not as much as seeing unraveling edges, LOL.

What do you mean by "looks really funny"? Is it the process that looks funny, or the final product with the thread tucked in.

Does anyone have a link or detailed directions so I can see if I am doing it right?
