DIY GBS test?

Anyone else have to diy? I was handed a stick with 2 swabs on it yesterday at my appt. to do my own gbs test. Do othey realize how hard it is for a full term pg woman to uh, swab those spots?

wow. I can't see down there, so I don't know how I could even attempt to try. I have my test on Tuesday.

My midwives just hand me the swab too but I prefer that to having to get undressed and get up on the table

I can hardly pee in the cup anymore, given the difficulty of looking over and reaching over my belly. I suppose it might be less intrusive to swab yourself... but it's less intrusive to put your own shoes on, too, and I can see needing help with THAT soon, also!

Yeah, the clinic I go to take the DIY approach to the GBS test, too. It's just almost comical. I was kind of worried that maybe I didn't do it right, but the test came back neg. -- I'm assuming it would be "inconclusive" if I messed up.

Anyhow, it's kind of like when my DH told me I should be doing perineial massage. Right. 'Cause it's just so easy to get around my big ol' belly.:

Yeah, I was happy not to have to undress and all that, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't doing it right. Like, is this thing far enough in?

Yes, mine was DIY as well. I've done it for all 3 pregnancies. So, I can't see down there, but you really don't have to see what's going on to do the test, kwim. It wasn't too big a deal.

I didn't know that was normal. I'm getting my legs and bikini waxed tomorrow and was thinking that it was perfect timing for the first time my midwife will see me down there. lol

Did you have it done earlier? I was just thinking about looking up that thread to see how it all turned out in the long term. I am in pretty poor condition myself.

Oh, what were we talking about? DIY GBS, right... I have mine on Monday, I doubt that it will be DIY. that's too bad, I think I would prefer it!
