Scrapbooks - 8x8 vs 12x12?

I realize that I am the only one to make the decision which size book I want but I was wondering what you experienced scrapbookers thought of each size. The 12x12 just seems so big, like it wouldn't really fit on a shelf but would be better if I wanted to put two 4x6 pictures and some journaling on one page. I am going to make a baby book so it will have a pregnancy few pregnancy pages first, then a page for my Mother Blessing (which is tomorrow - yay!), a few pages for the birth and then calendar pages for the first year. What do you all think?

I personally like the bigger ones because I like lots of room for photos, cutouts, writing, ect. I love busy pages with lots to see! I keep mine in drawer in a little table in the living room, so it doesn't matter whether it fits on a shelf.

I just make a scrapbook for my sister with all her cats (her children ) and I used the 8x8 because she didn't have a whole lot of pictures.
