Dare I jinx myself??

I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I've bought things twice from Motherhood...they have my real address (Thank-you DH ...I've bought things at BRU...signed up for their catalog because they have good coupons sometimes. :

And I've yet to receive a single can of formula, a single coupon/check...nada.

Dare I say something and jinx myself??? Can I really go through pregnancy and NOT get any coupons????

I didn't get any with my 2nd pregnancy. Although, with #2 I was wise to the system and didn't give my address to BRU *or* Motherhood. And I'm sure my HB midwives didn't sell me out to anyone.

With my first it was another story. I signed up for Very Best Baby online, because someone linked to some calendar feature on it from another site and I signed up before I knew it was nestle. :Puke So I was stalked by them for over a year and a half. Plus, I somehow got on several other mailing lists (THANKS, BRU, Motherhood & my CNMs' office. *sigh*)

Here's to hoping you get left alone this time, too!

My CNM is VERY pro-breastfeeding (nursed her kids well past 2, one even till 4 years) so I doubt she'd sell my name.

I can't believe Motherhood hasn't sold me to the devil yet though.

O'well, now I have an excuse when my SIL asks for my coupons since she's CHOOSING to ff. I'm surprised they haven't asked me to sign up too.

This might be a dumb question, what do you do with the formula samples coupons you get in the mail?

I've never been pregnant, so it has not happened to me. Also, how do they get your address? Do they ask at the register for your phone # or postal code?

Just curious

Motherhood Maternity and Babies R Us are notorious for selling your name and address...they market it as a 'special thing' they do for moms...to help them out :

Personally, since I don't know any FF'ers (that were able to used my samples, one was on WIC, one needed some special formula) and after asking I learned our local food bank doesn't accept formula, I sell it on Ebay.

I never got my breastfeeding sabatage gifts until after my due date.

Same thing happened to me. I was extremely irked at all the info Motherhood asked for and I did refuse later on, but I gave them all my info early on. And I was registered at BRU. I never got formula samples at all -- not in the mail or from my OB or family practitioner (where we take my daughter for well-baby visits). I did get some diaper coupons and a bag from the hospital, but there was no formula in it. I'm betting that there were formula coupons that I tossed without thought, but no actual product.

Oh, and while my OB and doctor aren't especially negative towards BFing, they certainly are mainstream. I was very surprised not to get anything.

FWIW, Motherhood had all my information and I didn't get a single formula sample until one of those toddler formula cans showed up 9 months after I had my baby.

I threw out formula coupons and held onto the formula samples just in case I wasn't able to pump enough for DS when I was working. I ended up feeding them to him when he was 12-13mo, but in retrospect I wish I'd donated it to the DV shelter.
