checking for position...

Can someone give me some good tips on checking for baby's position? I attended a birth last night and the baby came out straight OP. I can't really tell position with a vag exam, I don't know if it just takes lots of practice or if there is some tips/tricks. Also, it is really hard to change babies position when mother has an epidural (this was a hospital birth). Its just hard when they can barely move-- I was just happy this baby came out vaginally! Any tips for rotating an OP baby with an epi?

Penny has two great articles on her site - one on OP babies, one on general ideas for supporting women with epidurals. I have used these in the past teaching nursing students in the hospital because - let's face it - few of them saw a natural labor.
