does anyone have a knitting pattern for gnomes?

i don't mean ones that gnomes can knit themselves...lol

i'm trying to find a simple pattern to knit gnomes for my children for christmas. i'm somewhat of a beginner knitter, but am accomplished enough to knit the animals in the toymaking with your children book (if that gives you somewhat of an idea of my ability).

i've seen them around...they're very simple...about 4-6 inches tall with a simple body, head, and hat.

any links that you could direct me to would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!!!!

i ended up using this one. it's for a bunny but i just made a hat rather than the ears. it came out amazing!!! i've made a second one since!

to do the hat, cast on 22 stitches, knit a row, then purl a row.

on every knit row, knit together the first two stitches and the last two stitches until you are down to 1 stitch on the needle, then cast off, sew it up the back and sew it onto the head leaving a little roll.

have fun!
