What are the names of the fires you're looking for? Could be different because "everything is different in California" (not a slam, just that CA Dept. of Forestry has more money than God and they roll a little differently). Post the names and I'll see what I can find for you...

The Witch Creek or Witch fire and the Coronado Hills fire. I looked at the website, at all 4 California fires updated in the last 3 days, and none of them are even remotely in the correct geographical area (though for the person looking for the Lake Arrowhead fire, I think that's there). They all show the "unit" as the San Bernadino National Forest or something and none are in the San Diego area, as far as I can tell. Again, this is for fires updated within the last 3 days.

That last photo is not far from my house - maybe about 5 miles, but it is not that smoky where we are. It helps that the winds are blowing the stuff away from our house though. The sky here is still fairly blue, but the wind is starting to kick up.

Crud, Romana9+2, you're right. It must be that they're being managed by local fire departments, rather than the big federal teams. I'm sorry. If I can find you any information through my sources, I'll post links.

Thanks for trying. I'm sure the information will help someone. Meanwhile I guess I'm stuck with news.google.com . . .

The 15 is closed all the way down to the 163; I am wondering if they are going to evacuate Mira Mesa HS at some point?

Romana, which area specifically are you looking for information for?

I'm primarily trying to keep tabs on the Coronado Hills fire (very close to my parents), but also the Witch Creek fire because of friends in the Poway and west-to-the-ocean areas. I know the Coronado Hills fire is only 300 acres (as last reported) but there is zero containment and no crews to fight the fire (at least, that's what I read). That is the fire most likely to cause my parents to have to evacuate. They've been unavailable for awhile so I'm just wondering what's going on . . . if there are any updates.

Is there a good place to watch the news on the fire in the Lake Arrowhead area?

We are really counting our blessings. Good luck ladies

All of the LA stations are covering that area, do you have access to them?

Here's a view of the smoke all the way at the coast in Carlsbad, taken by my brother late this morning.

I got the info here: http://www.cbs8.com/
Thanks for the link. It's pretty close to their house. :

Here's a link to streaming/live reporting from the ABC channel in Los Angeles.

This should link you to live streaming news from San Diego.

My husband works in San Diego (we live in Arizona but he commutes) and he flew in this morning, tried to go to his office and it had been evacuated (he works right where the 15 hits the Ted Williams). So he is sitting in the lobby of his hotel trying to get work done from there, while people keep pouring in in tears begging for a room because they have been evacuated (one lady lost her home as did many of her friends).

Very very sad...and I am worried for my husband but he just says he is "fine" and that he doesn't smell the smoke anymore

How awful.

When is he coming home?

Stressed out, but happy to be safe. We're out at my parents' house in the De Luz area of Temecula, on the west side of the freeway out in the hills. The wind is pretty bad here, so I'm a little spooked about being here--that if a fire started nearby, we would not be safe. So far there are no signs of that happening, nut my nerves are shot.

We've been hearing on the radio that the fire is close to our house. We live on the north side of Lake Hodges, in an unincorporated area of Escondido. I'm trying to stay focused on all the positive--that we're okay, that we have somewhere to go besides a shelter to go, that we had time to get out with a few essential items. I'm glued to the news, which probablyisn't helping. I just want to know were the fire is going next.:

I don't know.

Apparently he feels he is safe...but I just looked online and the EXACT spot that his hotel is at says mandatory evacuation. However, no one at the hotel has mentioned a thing to any of the people sitting in the lobby.

How sad . . . glad to know the smoke is dissapating there, though.
