Yes! That's the only reason my father, uncle, and 2 brothers were not circ'ed-- you just don't do that to other people or babies. It hurts, they have no say in the matter. My grandmother wouldn't let anyone cut up her perfect babies in a time where women really had no say. She "put up a fight with the doctor" in the 50's over both of her sons and won because the docs all thought she was crazy and would end up hurting them (the docs, not the babies)!

So, I knew about it from that crazy family story. My mother has one son circumsized (the youngest, different father, just done to look like his dad). If someone would have said something to her about it actually being WRONG on other levels than cosmetic, or complications, etc... Actually, I think if she had someone to just back her up on it being wrong, little bro would be intact. At the time, she fell for family pressure and was not informed at all. Just do it, it won't hurt long, he won't even remember (he was born in 1990, so no home computer then!).
*well, i was 9 and I remember it, oh god, just that poor baby being there. Crying and bloody- it was a plastibell. I changed a lot of diapers. Then when my mother got pregnant again, she told my step dad (at the dinner table), "Over my dead body are you doing that to another child." So, yeah, it was pretty immediate knowing that it was wrong from the pain. Don't assume just because the first were not circ'ed that the next won'tbe either.

I joined MDC when ds was 4 mo old. I noticed this forum was here but avoided it for a while. When I finally did look I was horrified. It was so hard to come to terms with the fact that I let this happen to my boy. I have now been able to take that grief and turn it into knowledge and try to inform others. It still breaks my heart when I see his penis though. He has even made comments about how the tip is purple and has pulled the skin from his shaft down over the tip and said "look mom". Like he instinctually knew that was how it is supposed to be.
