Knitting a pregnant doll

Hello all. Perhaps you can help me. I want to knit a pregnant doll, a baby w/umbilical cord and placenta. I think I have a doll pattern that I can substitute for the momma, but I am not sure how to go about making the bumps necessary for breasts and a belly. I will post instructions and pictures once I get it figured out. But it might take me a while.

Any suggestions (for those experienced knitters out there) on how to make the bely bump and the breast bumps? I was thinking of kfb/pfb at the bottom of the bumps and then k2tog/p2tog at the tops to reduce them back to a normal size.

Are there any existing patterns out there that I don't know about?

I don't knit, but this sounds like it could be absolutely beautiful... you could try http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=23.0 for inspiration and questions. I know I've seen a kitted uterus with baby and umbilical cord. Those gals are a wealth of information.

Great, just what I need. One more forum to get addicted to... thanks a lot.

Seriously though, I asked. We'll see what happens. Thank you, really.

Your link didn't work for me.

I love this idea! Check back and let us know how you did it! I think for the belly I'd just make a somewhat curved pocket to stick the baby into... then when the baby's out, it'd just be a floppy postpartum belly (sorry, dealing with post-partum floppiness currently).

I'd treat the bumps like heals with short rows.

I dont knit, but it sounds like it will be a very interesting and beautiful doll and I would hope you post pics when you finish.

There was a really nice one on etsy, I believe she was selling the pattern as well.

I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks everyone. I am finishing up a unicorn, and I think that I am going to get started on the pregnant doll this weekend. It has to be finished by christmas. I will save this thread and post links to the picks on my blog as I go. I think this is going to be AWESOME. I might have to make two so that I have one for myself....

I found the pattern that I am going to use here:

http://www.marblehead.net/amy/knittyF04surp.pdf

It am going to use the small boobies for the breast () and one large boobie w/o a nipple for the belly.
