offending others

the topic of bfing in public came up at my job. i work in a resteraunt. a customer asked for a private room to nurse in. of course we gave her a room for privacy. joking around i told two young childless waitresses that i would just whip it out since i'm not shy. i have no problem with someone wanting to be discreet, though. these girls made comments like, maybe they didnt want to offend anyone. some people dont want their 5 yr old seeing that. i almost blew my stack. i told them seeing what ? someone feeding their baby. it is not offensive for a child to see that. its not a sexual act. maybe that memory will ingrain in the childs head and they will find bfing to be normal to do as an adult. i told them thats the problem with this country, that we sexualize the breast and that they are not just for selling beer and cars. their ignorance made me mad.

Yeah, well, comments like that are usually from people not completely comfortable with their own sexuality, and it manifests itself in them being "offended" by breastfeeding, which is so natural and non-sexual. :

Glad you set them straight.
