What do you do with fabric scraps?

Just curious...

I have a pile of scraps from the cute fabrics I used to make the outer layer of my DD diaper wraps and I'm contemplating ways to use it up.

Do you make toys? Doll clothes? Bean bags? Please lend me some of your creative wisdom!!

An idea is to starch them stiff and then use punches to make little flowers, stars, whatever punches you may have. I'm not sure if this even works, but it's what came to mind. I haven't actually tried it, lol.

I usually cut them into 2-1/2 inch strips and save them for quilts. It's fun to see different projects all tied together for a quilt.

How big are the scraps? I use 5" x 20" pieces of fabric to make hair ties (scrunchies). I also Google'd fabric scrap crafts and it came up with a lot of stuff.

Most are pretty small... maybe 6"x12"... But I have a lot of them in various colorful fabrics.

Oooooh! I like this idea!!! DD is still too young, but who says I can't make it now and save it for when she's older?

I was inspired by a post on a blog. I will take a picture of mine for my own blog this week.

I fill up boxes that sit there and make me feel guilty!

Oh, and use them for sewing practice for the kiddos too!

Use the serger to assemble them into bigger fabric pieces, then make gift bags. We no longer buy wrapping paper!

I make bendy dolls, it doesn't take much fabric to cloth a 3 inch tall doll.

I saw a really cool handbag someone made by sewing a bunch of little rectangular scraps onto another fabric. Now I can't find which blog it was!

You could make fabric flowers as well. Or hairscarves.

I've been using my smaller pieces lately to make the little 3- piece soft soled shoes. There are some great tutorials out there, and they come out really cute! You can mix & match fabrics, have an inner and outer layer, put little designs on the toe pieces, all kinds of fun ways to use tiny scraps!

I use them for embellishments.Like stars on a cape for my daughter or an initial on a gift bag. Also I'm going to make a strand of flags for the play room.I also used them for bean bags and funny dolls.
