"CIRC-OUT" in San Francisco, Saturday October 27, 10:30am-1:30pm - Moscone Center

Breastfeeding is IN. Circumcision is OUT.

You've heard of a "nurse-in", in which mothers and others gather to support breastfeeding.
We are asking you to come to a "circ-out", in which mothers and others will gather in support of keeping children intact, and free from sexual cutting.

Please gather in front of the Moscone Center in San Francisco between 10:30am and 1:30pm on Saturday, October 27. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is meeting inside. We will be gathering to support pediatricians who protect children from the harm of circumcision, educate those who do not, and request that the AAP support the human rights of children to an intact body, free from sexual cutting.

Please join us. Your presence will make a positive difference in the lives of countless children.

TIME: 10:30am-1:30pm SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2007
PLACE: MOSCONE CENTER (NORTH), SAN FRANCISCO - ON THE NORTH SIDE OF HOWARD STREET, BETWEEN THIRD AND FOURTH STREETS
MAP: http://www.moscone.com/pdf/MosconeAreaMap.pdf
WEAR: Yellow, Blue, or Intactivist t-shirts.
MOST IMPORTANT: PLEASE JOIN US! AND FORWARD THIS TO YOUR FRIENDS!

Contacts: Danielle 626-437-2598 or Tina 510-653-5260

See you at Moscone!

What a brilliant idea! Could someone post this to the San Francisco Tribe so that we can help to get as many people as possible out to this event?

Thank you.

Someone should post this on Craigslist! Lots of intactivists in that area who aren't hanging around parenting areas, methinks.

I did that today. I can't easily see it although I know its there after searching through the engine. Can anyone go there and see if they can find it?

If you can't attend on Saturday, please stop by on Sunday. We will be at the Moscone Center on Sunday too.

The busiest time will be around noon at the start of the lunch break. If you can only be there for an hour, 11:30am to 12:30pm would be the best time.

Here is a graphic of the placards we will have...

I hope to see you this weekend at the Moscone Center.

I'm trying to post it on Craigs List like some one here suggested. Several times in different places. I can't see it in the listing. Only in the educational- active btw, and political listings. Only one more day to go. The word should reach as many as possible. Help please. I can't seem to get it on the activities and events list.

thanks,
FW

The demonstration was a huge success. Each day of the AAP conference intactivists stood outside the Moscone Center with placards and distributed literature to the doctors and the general public.

Many of the physicians were supportive of our message so we thanked them for not recommending circumcision to parents. On the last day we had a sign that said "Thank you for not circumcising, please ask your colleagues to stop." We only encountered a few pro-circumcision doctors.

Several pediatricians stopped to tell us that none of them believe that circumcision will prevent HIV infection. I hope they are right.

The most popular placard was the one with a picture of baby with a very surprised look. It says "You wanna cut off WHAT?" above the baby and "Circumcision is unnecessary" below the baby. Many of the pediatricians took photos of that placard. One doctor said she will include the photo of the placard in her lecture about circumcision to residents.

In 2008 intactivists from the South and New England will have opportunities to demonstrate at national medical conferences. Next May the obstetricians meet in New Orleans and next October the pediatricians meet in Boston.
