YAY for Panera Bread

As you might all know, its breast cancer awareness month. I was in Panera Bread last night and they had stickers in the doorway advertising this. I asked for a manager and asked if they would be willing to put up a bf friendly sticker because bfing also reduces the rate of cancer in both donor and recipient. She told me she would happily do so.
So, now I just have to get the sticker where do I go to do that?

I see nursing moms in Panera all the time. Around here it seems to be *the* place for moms and their kids at lunch time.

Panera bread is where we do our mamas milk meetup. Also on Breast Cancer, they have a pink ribbon bagel this month to raise money for the cause.

What a great idea! They've already shown their committment to women's health; displaying the international breastfeeding symbol seems like a natural extension. They have a contact form online at http://www.panerabread.com/about/contact/ that I filled out with the following:

I wanted to applaud you on recognizing breast cancer awareness month in such a positive and visible way with the Pink Ribbon Bagel. I love that Panera goes to extra lengths to “do good” and to make families feel welcome. The bags of free “fish bread” you give out to feed the ducks and fish in your neighboring pond are a fun example of recycling and have earned you a loyal customer in my 5-year-old son.  And I appreciate that I’ve always felt comfortable and welcomed when breastfeeding my infant daughter at Panera. As you may know, breastfeeding reduces the rate of cancer in both mother and child. I’m hoping you’d be willing to post a sticker with the international breastfeeding symbol to signify that your bakery-cafe is a breastfeeding-friendly location. The symbol is available for download at

http://www.mothering.com/sections/ac...on-winner.html but I’d be happy to donate a window cling or sticker for display. Thanks for your support of women’s health! I bet a phone call or in person request would yield better results, but since it's 10pm... I'll try this first.

Panera was always my favorite place to go for lunch when I was on maternity leave. I ate my lunch and then Matthew ate his. The staff was wonderful, once they offered to get me more water, and another time, another offered to take my empty tray.

One day while I was waiting for my food, a woman approached and told me how beautiful he was. She then said that I must be nursing him because he had such a healthy glow. I just smiled and said "of course!" It was great!
