41 weeks and counting... - Page 2

Lots more rest last night...I'm sleeping through a lot of contractions, I think. Then, when one wakes me up, it hits so hard that I can't believe I've slept through them!

I'm just hanging in there. I've ds1 lined up to take the kids trick-or-treating in case I'm in really active labour by then (our other plan is for dh to take them, while I stay home and hand out candy). I'm still sort of hoping baby doesn't actually arrive until after midnight or tomorrow...but I think everyone else really wants it to come now.

Ooooo, i didn't see this before. I joined MDC shortly after you had your last baby and i remember your struggles. I am excited for you that you will soon be having your vbac!

Thinking of you!

With my first, I was hoping he'd come BEFORE midnight rather than after... because after would have been April Fool's Day! (He was born at 11:01pm on March 31st).

I'm so glad to hear that you're still hanging in there. You're in my thoughts!

Those looking for updates...contractions about 5-7 minutes apart (mostly) and lasting somewhere around a minute. No noticeable bloody show for...oh, a day maybe? There seems to be a pattern overall, but it's not steady - occasional times when I "skip" an expected pain (or two). I can talk through most of them, but only barely in some cases.

Just hanging in there - looks as though I won't have a Halloween baby, after all, which suits me fine. My mom said yesterday that "at least we don't have to worry about a 42-week baby this time", so I chose not to tell her that I actually am at 42 weeks (42w, 2d if you work with my 26 day cycle). I had enough stress about that last time.

So...kinda hoping it will be tomorrow, but we shall see. I wish dh weren't burning his vacation for all this, though.

Lisa mentioned somewhere else that she told her family that Halloween was her "due date" when it was really October 17th. So they must think that she is right on her due date then.

Go Lisa! (We met in Syracuse.) I too have been watching for updates on this and the ICAN boards. Hopefully, if you don't have the little one already, it will be SOON! Your labor thus far sounds a lot like mine were (right down to concern over DH taking so much vacation)...and, I know, it can be very frustrating. I hope in the end, it all goes quickly!

We've been thinking about you! Can't wait to hear the story and see pictures!

Tired today - not sleeping through as many...remind me - this is good, right?

Well - this will be the first November baby in our family, and I have one niece and one nephew born in October, so I like the idea of a November baby. I think it's the only month in which we don't already have one (in either my generation or my children's). DH's family has no other November birthdays, either.

I truly wasn't expecting a labour quite like this one...but it's kind of interesting...and definitely doesn't leave me feeling cheated out of my labour experience!

OK, SB this is HUGE, LOL! You must know how important your labor is to me! : I'm watching you closely!! If you can do it so can I! Would it be rude to say "don't let me down!"? :

Not really...right now, I can't think of anything short of an actual rupture that would make me give up on this. I want this experience.

Besides...my petty side wants to be able, in future, to say

"I was almost 40, 220 pounds at conception, had three c-sections, went past 42 weeks and had an 11-pound baby...and I still vaginally birthed. The doctors can take a hike!"

But, I do realize that's just a bonus - and a petty one, at that! (I don't really think this baby will be 11 pounds, but dd was 10lb. 2oz, and ds2 was 10lbs.8oz., so...you never know!)

It's quite a profound statement even WITHOUT the weight thrown in!

Oh man! (as DD would say - think Swiper on Dora the Explorer). I was sure the update today would be that the baby arrived in the wee hours of the night (I think that the baby understood that you didn't want a Halloween baby, so I thought she/he might come after midnight). Well, maybe tonight then. I guess it is both good and bad that you didn't get sleep last night. I hope the stronger contractions means something will happen soon.

Stay strong, we are all thinking of you.

Watching for all the updates.

It's so weird that I can be so proud of someone I don't really know, but I am!

Keep up the good work!

My HBAC labor was a start-and-stop type over 3 days, and I did NOT see that coming! I imagined the classic day of labor and 2-3 hours of pushing, but it did not go according to plan.

The other day I met someone whose son's birthday was August 26th. I thought 'Wow, that date sounds familiar... why is that?" Then I realized: That was the day I went INTO labor, and I thought sure he'd be born that day. Then "Hmm, I guess he'll be an August 27th baby." But no, that wasn't mean to to be either. Instead, he was born on August 29th.

Even though I was exhausted and frustrated with all the waiting, I can really look back on that birth and be proud of what I accomplished. I know that you'll be able to look back on all this suspense and laugh someday soon! Your body, like mine two months ago, is doing this waiting game for a reason. My son's birth was so gentle and I don't think that would have happened without all the days of labor beforehand. It's really not as hard as it sounds.

I can't wait to hear this birth story! I'm like all the other ladies here, checking in often to see if this amazing story has been written yet.
