I hope this is the right place to post this. I would like to make bath salts for gifts this holiday season. Does anyone have a good recipe ?
TIA !

I've got one for you!

Here it is...

Fizzing Bath Salts

essential oil, your choice
1 cup dry citric acid
1 cup cornstarch
2 cups baking soda
a few drops of food coloring (optional)

Mix essential oil and cornstarch until well blended. Add other ingredients. Mix well and store in an airtight container.

HTH!

This is the one I use whenever I forget that I need a gift till the last minute, 'cause I always have the 2 ingredients required!

essential oil
epsom salts

Mix and you're done. It's not fancy, but I've always had great responses when I've given these as a gift. I bought a big package of mason-type jars a few years ago, so I always have containers on hand - then I just cut some fabric to slip under the lid and add a homemade tag tied on with raffia.

I mix equal amounts of sea salts, epsom salts and baking soda. Then I drop in some essential oil.

Thanks for the recipes ! For all of these recipes do you have to let the ingredients dry on a tray before putting them in jars ?

Nope, no need to let them dry. Supposedly they smell stronger if they have a week or so to sit - shake them every few days - but I've never had the time to do it that way!

I've also done this for Christmas gifts too. I usually use epsome salts with a couple drops of essential oil and a couple drops of food coloring for fun. Another idea is to put the bath salts in small tins that you can find either new at craft stores for little $ or antique ones at flea markets, etc. (I like to recycle old tins or jars). If you knit or crochet, you can also include a bath scrunchy or mitt with the bath salts.

This year my husband and I are making soap too, so everyone will get a homemade spa kit with: bath salts, soap, bath mitt, and eye bag (made with scraps of silk and filled with rice and lavender). Have fun!
