i have a HB "set up " question...

we live in an old carriage house...so our set up is odd. we have a "playroom" on the first floor, that is really the basement (the old carriage area). the second floor is the main floor with living room, dining room, bathroom, and kitchen. we just recently moved bedrooms to attic...no bathroom on the third floor. so my idea for set up is.......aqua doula tub in dining room, and our king air mattress set up in there also.....because it's on the same floor as bathroom. what do you think?? i just don't want to be stuck going up and downstairs if i don't want to.....if i do feel like it, i still can but i will have this set up just incase. what are your opinions on this?? TIA!

ps. with our first we didn't have to worry about it....we only needed one bedroom and it was on the 2nd (main floor) with living room, kitchen, bathroom.:

yes, definately set it up like that.. you'll want the birth tub, the bathroom, and the kitchen all on the same floor. having a mattress on the same floor is an excellent idea!

Sounds good to me. I would also get sheets or something to protect the living room in case you end up in there since it's on the same floor.

I think your set up is great. Last time I was in the bonus room and had to walk up 4 steps to get to the bathroom...or shall I say, had to get pushed up 4 steps. It was a pain!

Sounds good. Like the PPs have said, having everything on the same level works best. We also have 3 stairs difference between levels on our second floor and we had everything up there because that's where our bathroom is and even those 3 stairs weren't fun during labour.

By the way, your house sounds really neat!

thank you! it is a neat house, but the lay out leaves something to be desired:

i guess my only concern is getting up down from the air mattress. i think they make air mattress stands/frames?? i might look for that. i can't get up and down NOW, so i don't think it will be an option while in labor

I think you might spend most of your time between the bathroom and the tub - so keeping those as close as possible is a good idea. I've never wanted to labor on a mattress so I didn't find it an issue, but eh, you may be different!
