I want o buy it now -- so at week 41.5 i am not out looking, also we are an hour from twon, by then Mom will be here and i know i won't be the one going shopping.

is it really a cooking oil? at a normal grocey store? st the health food store? at walgreens? what does it look like, how big a thing to buy?

(can it be used for anything else later?)

We just got ours at a regular grocery store in the vitamins/personal care area last time. Have not used it for anything else so we got the smallest bottle we could. Hoping not to have to use it this time (not that it did much last time).

I have an OT questions about Cod Liver Oil.
My dad has always taken it everyday as general health care (I guess because that was done when he was a kid).
Does it work the same for women that have done that their whole lives? Or is it the quantity that matters?

Is castor oil the same as fish oil?

I saw castor oil at Walgreens when I was there buying chux pads.

Castor oil is made from (I think, don't quote me) castor beans and is different from cod liver oil. I think it's a traditional remedy for constipation.

Cod liver oil is rich in omega fatty acids -- the non-veggie version of flax oil.

Cod liver oil is different that castor oil. Totally different. Cod liver oil is really good for you as a daily supplement, and won't do a thing for your labor. It might oil up those bowels a bit if you haven't taken it before, but nothing like castor oil.

Castor oil, in my experience, throws you right into nasty intestinal cramps. And for me, it did nothing to start labor. So be ready for it, if you choose to take it.

I've found it in the health & beauty section of my local grocery store. Comes in little bottles, usually 4 oz. Take 2 oz. at a time with OJ.

Castor oil is a laxative. Look for it in that section of the pharmacy.

i will get a little bottle tomorrow -- just in case ...

i am NOT overly anxious to try it -- but as i have said a million times, anything has to be better than Pit if i hit the end of week 41...
