Any info on this? I've heard that recent studies show it can really help with colic and digestive troubles but I wonder how young should you start?

I know you can use Udo's Choice for newborns.

Hm. Going to try some with James right now!

My naturopath gave me some for DD when she was born. She was c-section and although the antibiotics were minimal they were definitely present so I decided to be pro-active about supporting her system. I don't remember the brand unfortunately.

I've read you can use them -- might want to check the bf'ing board or the health and healing board. I recommend them for my clients who are GBS+ and receive antibiotics in the hospital.

There's a certain kind that's "for babies/kids" that I've found in the refrigerated section of health food stores. I don't remember the name now - Jarodophilus or something like that, maybe? Apparently they have different strains than we do, so they recommend using the "right" ones.

I have never administered it as a regular supplement when they were infants, but have used acidophilus powder (from capsules) to sprinkle on diaper rashes and also to apply to their mouths if I ever suspected thrush. We've never seemed to actually have thrush, but I can't say if that's 'cause I was just being paranoid or because the acidophilus actually helped.
