Selective and delayed.
I have 2 Standard Poodles, a breed known for autoimmune disease.
Luckily, my boy's breeder (exceedingly ethical breeder- no BYBs or puppy mills for us!) is also a fan of limited vaccinations, so he only got distemper/parvo at 7 weeks (most puppies get a buttload of vaccs before they leave their breeder @ 8 weeks.) He then got distemper/parvo @ 16 weeks, and that was it. He had rabies, parvo/distemper @ 12 months (which is against the law, but, whatever.) and his rabies booster that'll last 3 years at 2 years. (This is only a little more cautious than
Jean Dodd's vaccine protocol. She's a great champion!)
We got my girl when she was 5 months old, so she already had the full 5-in-1 puppy series. : (
Our cat is indoor-only and has not had any vaccinations since his shelter ones.
I actually started learning about vaccines and reactions,e tc, when I was obsessively preparing for a puppy. (I'm serious, I was so obsessive! BUT- my boy, Happy, is pretty much the best dog ever, in terms of temperament, breeding, genetic health, and "environmental" health, and being a snugglebear.) I realized that researchers like
Dr. Jean Dodds are making some really upsetting findings regarding the total lack of safety in pet vaccinations more widely known, and has developed a great vaccine protocol.
Vaccines are openly known to cause cancer in dogs and cats (at the injection site) to the extent that there's a pamphlet at our vets' about "Vaccines, Cats, and Cancer."
