Saw the Ob today
Everything is good.
I am week 38, and 2 days
we had an ultrasound 3 weeks ago and one today to check growth. Growth has greatly slowed down (as it did with Theo at the end). 3.5 weeks ago the baby's weight was estimated to be 4 pounds and 11 oz ... today it was estimated to be 5 pounds and 3 oz... not nearly the 6 oz a week one would expcet in an average baby's gorwth in the final month.
we decided to go in Tue for another US -- and then to discussion a medical induction as i will be at week 39 and the OB feels there is no added benefit to keeping the baby in the womb past week 38 except weight gain, at the start of week 39 we can be sure the lungs will be mature, the last step. If the baby is not going to gain weight and grow in womb, then we are better off with the baby outside with us living on breast milk.
He admits it is a tough call -- no real indication of problem, but no real reassurence that everything is fine either. at this late date, better to be safe and get the baby than wait and worry and and runt he low risk that there is an issue.
The fluid was great, and low fluid is a big sign of a failing placenta, and we have a history with Theo of making Small, but healthy, babies. Those two facts saved us the induction decision today.
So If I do not go in to labor before then, Tuesday we will set a date -- most likely Wed or Thur of next week. OB hopes i just go naturally this weekend.
We will let you know.
I am going to rest a lot and spend all the time i can cuddling Theo.
Scott's mom and sister are here, and will be till the 1st. My mom will arrive on the 2nd or 3rd.
I saw the acuputurist today, and have anopther appt tomorrow an.
I am breaking out the breast pump
DH is on call again, twice a day -- and he is pleased.
i will break out the castor oil Monday night -- can't be wrose than hours and hours and hours on Pit .... and the montiors that come with THAT.
no contractions today, or yesterday .....
come on baby -- work with me.
Everything is good.
